Slim PS3 is here...finally

Sony has had a real hard time keeping hardware revisions secret. The PSP Go was easily the worst kept secret at E3 2009, and rumors/leaks of a slimmed down PS3 have been going on ever since then as well.

Well, after months of denying the rumors of both a slim PS3 and a PS3 price cut, Sony finally today officially announced both.

The Slim PS3 will launch on September 1st in North America and Europe, with Japan two days later on the 3rd. It will debut with a retail price of $300 on launch day. It's smaller, lighter, has a 120GB HDD, and still has "all the same features" of the regular PS3 while consuming 34 percent less power and taking up 32 percent less space.

All current 'fat' PS3's will have their retail prices dropped by a cool hundie starting today to match the price point of the upcoming revision.

Maybe it's just me, I've never thought the finger-print prone PS3 Phat was the best looking console out there, but to me they managed to make the Slim even uglier than it's predecessor...
