Nintendo officially lets loose launch details on the 3DS

Nintendo's next entry in their monster monopoly of gaming handheld consoles finally has official US and Europe release dates. At a press event today, Nintendo announced that the 3DS will be for sale in the US on March 27th and a tad bit earlier in Europe on March 25th (they had previously announced that the system will launch on February 26th in Japan). Official MSRP will be $249.99 in the US and what looks to be £229.99 in Europe.

Nintendo promised 30+ games to be released during the "launch window" for US gamers. Although they were unclear what titles would be available on the actual launch date. Many games were discussed at the event, such as Resident Evil: Revelations, Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition, Pilotwings Resort, a new Paper Mario game, Dead or Alive Dimensions, Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Rabbids 3D, and of course, a Madden game.

A new 3DS website also launched today.

Panasonic announces launch details for 3D plasmas

3D was all the rage at CES 2010, but now we get to start getting announcements on when these products will actually hit store shelves along with pricing. Panasonic has announced that their 54-inch P54VT2 and 50-inch P50VT2 will be hitting Japanese shelves on April 23rd. The 54" will be approximately $5,932 and the 50" will ring up at around $4,813. Steep pricing indeed, but the sets will come with the ridiculous 5,000,000:1 native contrast ratio and a pair of the active shutter glasses to make the 3D viewing possible.

No mention yet as to when US consumers will be able to get their hands on some 3D Panny action, but with DirecTV launching their 3D capability in June and 3D Blu-Ray's also coming this summer, you can bet it won't be to far behind.

Hit up the source link for more pictures of the sets, GUI's and glasses.

Street Fighter IV: Championship 8-bit Tournament Mega Man Edition Turbo

Those kids over at the Shoryuken forums are quite the talented bunch, as shown in a previous post. Now forum member ReyArt is taking the SF4 cast even farther back in time, giving them some sprite love inspired by the Mega Man series.

Hit up his forum post for more loot. Like individual pics of each fighter and wallpapers.

Street Fighter IV: Championship 2D Tournament Edition Turbo

Now this is just plain cool. A very talented Shoryuken forum member steamboy33 has made some SF3 inspired sprites out of some of your favorite SF4 characters. After seeing this I can't help but wonder how cool it would be if Capcom was to release a 2D patch to SF4. Unfortunately outside of some M.U.G.E.N. action, I doubt we'll ever get to see it.
