Your favorite video game to movie series is going to be around for quite some time still. After 3 movies (not counting Degeneration) Sony Screen Gems is still willing to try and get the Resident Evil movie formula right. Well, at least I hope they're still trying, because other than some names, the first three really haven't had much to do with the games. The fourth movie in the live action series, Resident Evil: Afterlife, is set to release on August 27, 2010. But the studio is already talking about the fifth in the series, and looking to do a 'reboot' (which is all the rage these days since Batman Begins) tentatively called Resident Evil Begins.
Maybe it's just me, but the fact that they're already planning a 'reboot movie' for the series doesn't sound like they have a ton of hope on Afterlife to do much, and it's still a year away from release. The previous RE movies have been decent action flicks, but they haven't come close to capturing the magic of the RE games.
To Sony:
We don't want kung-fu in Resident Evil. Please look at some real zombie movies as referrence, or heck, just hire Romero to help you get it right.
Love and kisses,
The techphules
