Not to be outdone by Epic's Unreal Engine 3 demo this year at GDC 2011, Crytek showed off some gorgeous footage of what CryEngine3 can do. Their video is geared a little more towards developers than the UE3 one was, but that doesn't make the effects they show off any less impressive. Enjoy more amazing graphics that current-gen consoles could only dream of being able to give you.

Crytek's latest tech demo display of the new CryEngine 3 shows off the amazing things the engine is capable of. The cool thing, and one of it's biggest selling points, is the fact that the engine seamlessly works for the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Making ports almost as easy as hitting a button.
While this demo isn't a giant leap over the visuals capable from a high-end PC, this is a huge deal for consoles, to possibly replace the aging Unreal Engine 3 that is so popular. And it also should be great news for PC gamers wishing for quality looking ports of some console games.

Monkey Island 2 mod for Crysis

The Monkey Island series is getting a pretty decent amount of press lately, with the recently released Secret of Monkey Island:Special Edition graphical update hitting the PC and XBL Arcade. Well, now YouTube user loneclone has posted a new video of his Monkey Island mod made for Cryengine, and boy is it pretty. If you remember playing MI at all, then the set pieces that he has lovingly converted into beautiful 3D should be easy to spot. He also claims that the level featured here will be available to the public in the future.
